HPV Vaccine (Gardasil 9)
Proven protection against 9 types of cancer-causing HPV
Comprehensive Protection with Gardasil 9
At Border Health we offer the Gardasil 9 vaccine, the most advanced protection available against Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Recent studies confirm extraordinary results: in Scotland, no cases of cervical cancer were detected in women vaccinated before age 14, and in the United States a 50% reduction in HPV-related cancers in men has been documented, and up to 88% decrease in HPV infections in vaccinated adolescents.
Why is this vaccine necessary?
HPV is the most common sexually transmitted virus, and almost all sexually active people will contract it at some point in their lives. Each year in the United States, HPV causes approximately 36,500 cases of cancer. Vaccination can prevent 90% of these cases.
Gardasil 9 protects against nine types of HPV that cause:
- Cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancer in women
- Anal cancer in men and women
- Head and neck cancers (oropharynx, throat, base of tongue, tonsils)
- Penile cancer in men
- Genital warts
Important: The vaccine is most effective when administered BEFORE any exposure to the virus, ideally between ages 9 and 12, although it's approved up to age 45.

Frequently Asked Questions
We know questions may arise. Here are answers to the most common ones.
The ideal age is between 9 and 12 years, before any exposure to the virus. However, the vaccine is approved and beneficial up to age 45. The earlier, the better the protection.
Yes! Even if you've been exposed to some types of HPV, the vaccine will protect you against the other types you haven't contracted yet. It's unlikely you've been exposed to all 9 types that Gardasil 9 covers.
No. The vaccine prevents future infections, but doesn't treat existing infections or already developed cancers. Regular cervical screening is still necessary for all women, even those vaccinated.
Absolutely. Men can develop throat, anal and penile cancers caused by HPV. Additionally, male vaccination helps protect their partners and reduces virus transmission in the community.
No problem. You don't need to restart the complete schedule. Simply schedule your pending dose and continue from where you left off. Our team will help you establish the correct calendar.
